This week I continue to shelf and organize books in the media center. Also, I started practicing doing check-out and check-in books. I was kind of nervous because I am a perfectionist but the kids and media specialist was patience with me. I learned so much about the Follett Destiny program that my county use. Today, I got a chance to experience a lot of issues like overdue books, etc. One of my take away this week is that I need to have procedures in my media center in order for transition to run smoothly.

Checklist Item # 3 MembershipI feel it is important to network with other people in your profession. I decided to join American Library Association because they offer a lot of resources and a great place to network with people in your profession. Below is a copy of my membership. This week I continue to practice organizing and shelving books. This week my media specialist introduce me to the system they use to check-in/check-out books. Also, I had a chance to do a mini lesson with a class. I read a book to them and pause in between to ask students questions to check for comprehension. So far I am enjoying spending time in the media center and this encourage me to keep going in my practicum and all work will be worth it at the end. My first week working in my primary media center was getting a chance to meet with my media specialist and coming up with a plan for this semester. My media specialist gave me a tour of the library and showed me how to organize and shelf books. Each day I will practice organizing and shelving books. This will help me learn the media center. |
