Reflection
I feel that a media specialist needs to model and promote ethical, equitable access to and use of physical, digital, and virtual collections of resources. Through this program, I have obtained a variety of information sources that support the needs of the diverse learning community.
I was able to demonstrate my understanding of support for diverse student information needs through my collaborative lesson plan, reading enrichment lesson, an online module. I understand as an educator that everyone learns differently. This experience will help me be a competent media specialist because I know how to provide support and information to support my student’s needs.
Also, it is essential for a media specialist to support flexible open access for library services. The media center should be a place for students to obtain information and for pleasure reading. During my practicum, I got a chance to experience the flexible schedule. I learned how to check-in and check-out books for students. I also was able to help students pick books of their interest.
Also, during this program, I was able to design a tool that engages students in authentic learning through digital and other resources. I learned in this program that staying up to date with the latest technology tool to keep the students engaged and more excited about learning and reading more. As a future media specialist, I feel it is important to use evidence-based research to collect data. I learned how to interpret the data which helped me design activities that will keep my audience engage in the materials that I presented. For example, after analyze the data from a questionnaire I create a Instructional Screencast Video which show the audience how to use Edmodo. Another example, was when I collaborate with another educator, I was able to go over data to help me create my lesson plan that will benefit my students.

SMP4: School Library Media Center Facilities: Inside the Walls & Beyond Assignment I chose this artifact because it demonstrate me supporting flexible and open access for library services. In this assignment I analyze a media center and develop a solution fr the physical, social, and intellectual barriers. This was a great assignment because I was able to recognize a problem and develop a solution to the problem. When I presented the issue to the media specialist she was receptive to the feedback because I had a suggestion. This artifact support elements 3.1, 3.2, and 3.4
